The Dark and Bright Maidens

The idea of Dark & Bright Maidens I first was introduced to through Ariadne's Thread: A Workbook of Goddess Magic by Shekhinah Mountainwater. One of my favorite books!

Many witches honor the triple Goddess- Maiden, Mother, Crone. The triple Goddess also goes hand in hand with the moon phases - crescent, full, new/dark.

Shekhinah instead suggests the use of 4/5 aspects of the Goddess.

This really resonated with me and shaped my specific path.

This idea expands things further into different life phases and experiences and matches better with the moon phases.

Bright Maiden - Waxing Moon

Artemis/Kore

The Bright Maiden is the youth, innocence, & the strength/warrior, passionate, blood mysteries

Mother - Full Moon

Dark Maiden - Waning Moon

Crone - Dark Moon

Death/Rebirth - New Moon
